HELLEBORES

Hellebores are one of the delights of late winter and early spring and over the last few years I have amassed quite a few in my garden. When I lift the nodding heads to closer inspect the beautiful flowers I can’t help but smile: so many colour combinations and markings to admire.

The arrangement of stigmas, stamens and anthers add a sense of drama to each flower and when viewed through the camera lens are quite simply stunning. This led me to thinking about different ways to interpret the intricate flower centres in stitch. I have collected together some samples of work to date but really think it is time to look for new methods to explore.
